MATERIALS FOR PACKAGING - PAPER AND CARD

CARTRIDGE PEAR :

is used for general drawing. It is usually of good quality and can be 100-135g thick. This paper can be used in design and technology projects. It will accept color from felt pens and pencils without too much leaking.

CARDBOARD :

is thicker than paper because it's made of many layers, glue, or laminated. The diagram below shows the net/development of a package. You can fold it to make a carton.

SOLID WHIITE BOARD :

This is high-quality cardboard made from bleached wood pulp. This card is ideal for printing on and is therefore used for expensive and hard-backed books.

CORRUGATED BOARD :

This board is used for packaging large electrical items. These large boxes, often brown in color, protect contents from damage. The strength of a corrugated board comes from its combination of a top layer and a bottom layer, with a triangulated section in the middle. The strength of a triangular section is much greater than its weight.

FOIL-LINED BOARD :

is high-quality cardboard with an aluminum foil lining. This container is great for take-out or ready-made meals. The foil keeps the food warm and retains heat.

TRACING PAPER :

It is used by students, designers, and pupils. This allows the designer or artist to duplicate an existing drawing/form. When you need to create multiple drawings that follow the same outline, tracing papers can be helpful. You can see the original design under the second drawing.

BLEEDPROOF PAPER :

does not allow for felt pens or ink pens (water- or spirit-based) to spread or bleed across the surface. The ink can absorb and spread out onto the cartridge paper surface, making it difficult to draw precise lines. The coating on bleed-proof paper prevents this from happening and leaves a precise, accurate line. 70gsm

GRADE PAPER :

is available in a variety of patterns. The most popular are square grids and isometric. This layout is helpful for drawing in three dimensions (isometric) or graphs and pictograms on graph paper. Standard 80gsm

INK CARD  :

is a high-quality paper that's often used for printing photographs. It is usually either matte or gloss in texture. It is more expensive than photocopying or cartridge paper. It can weigh between 120 and 400gsm.
